Born and raised in St. Petersburg, my husband and I have lived in Riviera Bay for the last ten years — I am a true St. Petian. I believe family is everything and I am very blessed to have all of my family right here locally. The past couple years have been difficult for many. However, we were able to get through it knowing we had a great support system. Last year, it occurred to me that many other families or neighbors may have to rely on schools, work and other groups for support. What we often forget is that our community can help in ways we don’t always see right away. There can be helping hands from neighbors capable of doing little things for others when someone might be going through a rough patch. I think it’s important to grow our community and know our neighbors. Life gets away from us sometimes, but I think it’s important to keep bringing back these neighborhood block parties and small gatherings and continue learning each other’s names.
This last year was my first year serving on the board for the Riviera Bay Civic Association as Vice President and I’ve had a blast getting to know new neighbors and working with the other board members to make our community great. It’s an honor to work with some great people. I was able to help with our Easter/Spring Event, bring weekly Food Trucks to the neighborhood, revamp our Thanksgiving into a Fall Festival for all ages, keep the excitement of the Christmas Golf Cart Parade going and I cannot wait to see what 2022 has in store. I have so many more ideas to bring joy and excitement to our area, while also bringing sponsorship opportunities with each event to our neighbors and community partners with businesses large and small.
My immediate family owns several small businesses here in the burg and I’m a strong proponent for keeping it local. My husband, Gregory, designed the 9-11 Memorial out on Madeira Beach and I worked with the Ad Hoc Committee to raise funds for its construction. My background is in adult learning/training and instructional/graphic design. We have a little girl and I want her to know the sky’s the limit for what she can do.
In the past year, I’ve seen so many new and young families moving to our neighborhood and I think this is a great opportunity to continue to build our community engagement right here in Riviera Bay! I’m eager to see how I can bring my ideas, encouragement and enthusiasm to our neighborhood and community.
